Denise is the Managing Member of the Farris Law Firm, L.L.C., practicing general business, commercial construction and equine/veterinary practice law. Trained in Kansas City’s largest law firms, Denise opened her own practice in 1996 and has consistently been top rated for legal expertise and ethics by Martindale Hubbell. She’s additionally received prestigious national honors, including Martindale Hubbell’s National Preeminent Women Lawyers recognition, Fortune Magazine’s 2015 Female Leaders in Law; KC Business Magazine’s “Super Lawyers” Top 100 Lawyers and Top 50 Female Lawyers in MO/KS;  and the KC Business Journal’s “Best of the Bar”.  A lifelong equestrian, in 1997 Denise, through the Farris Law Firm LLC, became one of only 47 firms nationally to list a practice niche in “equine law”. Denise serves as a featured speaker at the annual Equine Law Practitioners Conference in Lexington, KY; a keynote speaker for various national equine and animal health conventions; and in 2013 was listed by  EQUUS Magazine among its national “Leaders in Equine Law” feature.   Denise is a regular presenter on risk management training programs for veterinary associations, pharmaceutical manufacturing and distributor representatives, and some of the nation’s preeminent boarding and training facilities. She additionally writes and lectures about the complex federal and state regulatory and case law issues surrounding pharmaceutical compounding regulations for the animal health care industry.   The Firm’s services include arbitration and mediation for the agricultural industry, as well as risk management and compliance consulting, state Equine Activity Liability Act compliance; contract preparation including boarding, breeding, sales, training, lesson and syndication agreements; corporate formations, labor, employment and immigration issues; environmental and zoning; stable, veterinarian and farrier insurance defense services; association rule infractions; and regulatory issues at the local, state and federal levels, with a heavy focus on developments in animal pharmaceutical compounding law.  Denise’s committee and board work includes serving as a Board Member with the Kansas Horse Council; Missouri Katy Trail committee; Kansas Flint Hill eco-tourism project; and the MO and KS Equine Council legislative committees. She has donated pro bono services to the Missouri Equine Council, the Kansas Horse Council, and National Association of Trail Ride Conference (NATRC) as well as various equine therapy clinics.
